Tracking a resource down

I am trying to track down contact information for someone who was the former head of Federal department. I googled him, and I found some reference to him and the fact he had his own consulting company. I couldn't find a city name, or any contact information. Any tips on how to track someone down?

    If he has a business name it must be registered in the state city and county right? Its public record. Worst case pay $20 to one of those investigative websites. They work very well- (scary)
